Being born may be one of the more challenging experiences in our lives. Its effects can create blueprints for our life patterns and perceptions which may then present symptomatically as we go through life. Craniosacral Therapy (CST) can help to gently ease the body of these symptoms and allow it to reach its full potential.
CST aims to facilitate the release of any areas of restrictions or tensions in the craniosacral system that can arise from our birth or our life experiences, and the emotions associated with them. The system includes the fluid and membranes that protect and nourish the brain and spinal cord. This sensitive and delicate system can easily become restricted or imbalanced during the birth process, particularly when interventions have been necessary.
Any imbalances within the Craniosacral system can potentially affect the central nervous system leading to possible sensory, motor, neurological, digestive or behavioural disorders. There is also an increasing amount of research suggesting that the effects of the birth process contribute to a person's well-being. Sometimes these effects only become apparent later in childhood or as an adult.
The importance of bonding between mother (& father) & child isalso well acknowledged and CST, when appropriately applied, has been shown to be safe and effective in enhancing this and many other conditions.
Some conditions helped by CST include;
- Learning problems
- Movement disorders
- Behavioural & mood problems
- Autistic Spectrum Disorder
- Cerebral Palsy
- Strabismus (squints)
